Dear All,

It looks as if we are all having an exciting few weeks ahead. My appointment is on Tuesday 5th. I cannot wait, for one reason the medication is definitely not working and I need to see where I move to after two failed anti-tnfs. The second reason is that we have just had a new Rheumatology unit in Telford. It was previously based in the hospital but now has its own centre and when I get there on Tuesday there should be staff from every area in attendance from Consultants, to rheumy nurses, to occupational health, to physiotherapy etc and I can see whoever I need to see all in one appointment. Apparantly our Primary Care Trust have taken over the running of the Rheumatology service and pumped some money into giving us a far better service.ThumpUp

Take care all of you and hope your appointments go well.

Jackie

Hi

sorry not been on for a while been in one of those fed up moods and not sure what to do with ones self but getting out of it a bit now.

glad you all got your appoinments and do let us know how you go ......I had mine last week been on Anti TNF for 3 mths now and this was the first check up since i started it, i was a bit nervous when i was going but soon got over that, the rummy nurse was happy with the results she said my RA factor in my blood had come down about 40 pionts and my das score was 6.88 so she was happy with this. I said to her if it is going well why do i feel so bad she said a lot of this was down to my fybromyalger (sorry not sure that is spelt correct) and she said at this point there is not a lot we can do for that, so that is how i left the hospital last week, and with an appointment for3mths time.

but never mine i have you guys to talk to when i feel low hope this rain is not making any of you suffer more, will have to go now need some food.

take care
love

Hi Audrey

Good to hear from you but sorry you are feeling a bit low ... the weather certainly isn't inspiring!

Pleased to hear the biologics are working for you. Still early days, but the signs of improvement look promising. Perhaps once the RA is better controlled you may get some respite from the fibromyalgia, fingers crossed for you :)

Do keep posting Audrey, look forward to chatting with you soon,

Lyn x

Hi Jackie

Wow, what a fab set up! I can see why you are so excited ThumpUp Wouldn't it be great if we all had access to such wonderful services ... I struggle to even get a depo jab!!

Do hope they are able to come up with an alternative drug for you; it's worrying isn't it (well it will worry me!) to have failed two anti-tnfs? But there are new meds being made available all the time, some of which work in a different way, so there's every chance they will have something for you. Rituximab is often the next one along the line, it works on the B Cells rather than the T Cells. Let us know how you go on,

Lyn x

My son, Ian, completed the BUPA Great North Run on 15th September running for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). You can read his story at http://www.justgiving.com/ianlukewilson

Hello All

I have my laptop back - although it still doesn't appear to be logging on - fingers crossed.

Well missed everyone and will read up posts later today to catch up on everyone.

Well last Monday (9 days ago) i woke up at 5.30 and couldn't get my head of the pillow.
I had vertigo . Have had that before and so knew what it was. It is a horrid thing room
spinning and being sick. Doc got tablets to me so only sick the 1 day but now even 9 days
later I have to watch myself as if I move too quickly I start spinning. He has given me
more tablets so hope will go away. Next Thursday off to Girona for 3 nights.

Well saw Specialist who very nice , but was running over an hour late. Good examination
and gave me a depo. She is referrring me to Rhummy Nurse for councelling for anti TNF's.
and said I would hear shortly. Well you won't believe this but had a letter to see Nurse and it
is 15.14.2011 yes 2011. . . has to be wrong. Tried ringing and no one includ secretary
not in office today. grr.

My Doct signed me off till 1st November when then I hope to start back part time at work.
I am off now to see my Boss to see if we can iron out details. I am waiting for 'access to
work' to ring me back as need work based assessment.

I have to go now. Will log on later though. Hope everyone is well.

Hi Rose,

Nice to see you back but sorry about the vertigo, I hope it goes away soon.
surely that date must be wrong, they can't make you wait so long without any meds, I hope you can get it changed to a much earlier date.

Love, Doreen xx

Hi Rose - good to hear from you but sorry to hear you have vertigo. It sounds horrible. Hope you are fully better very soon. Did you manage to sort out your appointment ime? It's ridiculous to have to wait till next year to begin the process. Hope your depo is giving some relief and that the Access to Work people can give some real help. Good Luck XX Ailsa
